Who Is Gutty ? Mark Philip Gutteridge, aka “Gutty” was born and raised in Southern England and from a young age had a deep connection to the natural world that surrounded him. Stonehenge was literally a stone’s throw away from his childhood home and the Neolithic landscape of his native county of Wiltshire inspired Mark to explore various forms of artistic expression and in doing so he discovered his passion for photography. This was in his early teens, when film was the norm and darkroom developing played an important role in his education of the image. Having been an active photographer throughout the evolution of camera technology he now embraces the world of digital photography and processing to create visually stunning images.
Another artistic outlet for Mark is creating art pieces fashioned in metal and stone inspired by the art of the ancestors and the landscape around him. His connection with the mystical, prehistoric monuments of his native land also inspired him to create a full size monument with celestial alignments on his Utah Ranch. Many beautiful images have been shot during sunrise or sunsets at the sacred circle and when friends come to gather to celebrate the day.
With his eye focused on the beautiful skies, it is no wonder that Mark has also become proficient in night and astrophotography. He developed an early connection with all things skyward after meeting moon walker Buzz Aldrin. The passion for the world beyond inspires his Milky Way and evening sky shoots. .
Not only a gifted artist, Mark is also a Master and Teacher in the healing art of Reiki which, along with his meditation practice has increased his connection and understanding of the world around him. After many years as an ordained Spiritual Humanist minister and as the founder of Stonehenge Weddings in England, he regularly performs wedding ceremonies within the ancient monument of Stonehenge. Along with working in some of the most stunning locations in the American Southwest he can also be found photographing clients at Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
Along with performing ceremonies, he has been the photography director for Monumental Arizona Weddings and has captured some intimate and romantic images for the wedding couples in countless magnificent landscapes. As co-owner with his wife and soul mate, Debra, Mark is the creative force behind anything photography related for the wedding business.
When not capturing an intimate wedding in the English countryside, the American Southwest or accompanying a client high in the Himalayas, Mark is found farming organic produce on his Utah ranch along with updating and enhancing the beautiful home he shares with Debra. The couple, when not working or enjoying their home are hiking the magnificent landscape of the high desert.
